Business intelligence (BI) is defined as a decision-making process supported by the integration and analysis of an organization’s data resources. In fact, information is recognized as the most valuable asset of an enterprise, and information is a fundamental resource for enterprise development, so the role played by his BI in several types of enterprises is becoming increasingly important. The selection of documents for this paper was done through electronic sources: IEEE, Scopus, and Science Direct. These information sources were selected as the basis for indexing and cataloging from Q1 to Q3 because they are pioneers in the technology knowledge base and have received much research. First, 3689 articles were identified as an initial basis, 1354 articles and conference proceedings were selected from journals, 1160 articles corresponding to IEEE sources, 745 were selected by Scopus, and finally Science Direct 470 articles were filtered. After this identification, articles within 1 to 3 years of publication were selected in search of updated information, and this filter produced 1774 articles. Files that did not contain business intelligence or similar terms were then excluded, and this process produced 650 documents. Ultimately, 44 papers were selected, including research, case studies, and literature reviews on business intelligence, big data, Industry 4.0, and the Internet of Things. This process is illustrated in Figure 1.
Review articles can be classified into several categories based on subject, evaluation, inference, discussion, etc. [8] identified a list of the main categories and methodological aspects of search, analysis, and synthesis, shown in Table 2.
